Services & Resources for Community Leagues

Many communities are facing increased crime rates and aren't sure what to do. Whether it's more vandalism, theft, break-ins, assaults, or other crimes, there are proactive things that community leagues can do to minimize risk of these occurrences for their members, rather than having to rely on law enforcement reactively. Tip of Spear offers many programs and services specifically for community associations to help make their communities safe again and empower their members. Here is a list of offerings:

Programming for Community Members:

• Personal Empowerment through self-defence

  • Single 1-3 hour self-defence seminar (for women, children, teens, adults)

  • Recurring self-defence classes (for children, teens, adults)

• Crime Minimization

  • General risk awareness & personal safety - seminar / lunch and learn

  • Community crime minimization - workshop

Training for your Community Association Board of Directors and Volunteers:

• Verbal de-escalation - group training

• Community crime minimization - workshop

Have a Community Hall or other Facilities?

• Security assessments and implementation plans to reduce crime on the exterior and interior of the building

• CPTED assessments to reduce crime on the exterior

NOTE: Government funding is available! The Alberta Security Infrastructure Grant offers up to $10,000 to have an assessment done, and further funding to implement the findings of the assessment. Click here to read more and apply!
