TACTICAL COMMUNICATIONS & DE-ESCALATION

For high-risk sectors such as Law Enforcement and Peace Officers, Security Guards, and Investigative Personnel.

This program equips personnel operating in authority-based, high-risk environments with the discipline, tactical awareness, and legal clarity required to resolve volatile encounters while preserving officer safety, public trust, and legal defensibility.

Authority-based professionals will be trained to manage volatile encounters by integrating:

  • Self-control

  • Situational awareness

  • Tactical communication

  • Positioning and movement

  • Tools 

  • Lawful decision-making

​

Into one operational system, available in three training formats that all teach the same core system, but with increasing depth, practice, and performance.

​

 

Our program offers a clear operational structure, utilizing a 5-step de-escalation model, enhanced with:

​

  • Incident Management (Self → Environment → Subject)

  • Threat recognition, positioning, and movement

  • Ready stance & reactionary gap management

  • Flashlight & tool-based control of perception

  • Canadian Use-of-Force law

​

Participants will take away a shared tactical framework, develop better judgement under pressure, and a common language for risk, communication, and law.

Certification issued by Tip of Spear and Control Concepts Canada

​

In-person training is delivered at the Tip of Spear facility in Edmonton, or our instructors can come to you. Please contact us to schedule your group's session and arrange details.

90- MINUTE PRESENTATION

Ideal for: annual refreshers, large or multi-site agencies, policy & liability alignment, or when in-person training is not immediately available

The goal for this session is to give personnel a clear operational model for how to:

​

    ✓ Control emotional hijacking and stress responses

    ✓ Read environmental and subject-based threat indicators

    ✓ Use authority + empathy to gain voluntary compliance

    ✓ Know when to remain directive and when command is required

    ✓ Understand how Use-of-Force law governs communication decisions

  • The 5-Step Tactical De-escalation Model

  • The Incident Management Model

  • How SNS activation & emotional hijacking impair decisions

  • How distance, stance, angles, and exits affect safety

  • How language choices affect compliance & legal justification

  • An overview of Canadian Use-of-Force law

This format provides rapid alignment across teams, and participants take away a shared tactical communication doctrine, a legally grounded decision framework, and more consistent, safer approaches.

ONE-DAY TRAINING SESSION

Where tactical knowledge becomes operational skill. Ideal for Enforcement and Compliance roles, and teams facing frequent confrontation

Delivery method: In-person only

Cost per participant: $140.00

Goal: To build professional-grade performance by integrating emotional control, tactical communication, ready stance & movement, flashlight and tool use, use-of-force law, and decision-making under stress.

Personnel will move from knowing the de-escalation model to executing it under stress through practice, coaching, realistic role-play, and legal decision-framing.​

​

In addition to all 90-minute content, participants will learn and practice:

  • Self-Control Under Stress

  • ​Ready Stance & Threat-Aware Movement

  • ​Threat-Aware Positioning

  • ​​Directive vs Command Communication

  • Incident Management Scanning

  • Use-of-Force Decision Thresholds

TWO-DAY TRAINING SESSION

This is where operational skills become professional habits. Ideal for Enforcement and Compliance roles, Team Leads and teams facing frequent confrontation

Delivery Method: In-person only

Cost per participant: $215.00

The goal of this two-day session is to build professional-grade performance by integrating emotional control, tactical communication, physical behaviours, tactical tools, knowledge of use-of-force law, and decision-making under stress, into realistic, high-pressure scenarios.

In addition to all One-Day content, participants learn and integrate multiple facets of each:

  • Advanced Positioning & Movement

  • OODA Loop Under Stress

  • Scenario-Based Problem Solving

  • Professional Documentation

Video-recorded performance and team-based feedback are utilized to reinforce concepts and the learned physical behaviours.
